Sodium cocoa sulfate, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, peppermint essential oil, d-panthenol.

Our bars are created with Sodium Coco Sulfate, a lathering agent that makes the shampoo sudsy. It is milder than Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate because it is derived from coconuts, not petroleum. Environmental Working Group's (EWG) certification for surfactants, Sodium Coco Sulfate, is rated a "1," the highest safety rating. Your hair is getting the best of both worlds because it effectively dissolves dirt and grease, but more gently, it is safe for colored hair, and you still get the sudsy lather we are all accustomed to. This helps the transition period from liquid to bar seamless.
How to use:
There are two ways to use a shampoo bar: rub the wet bar directly on your hair, or lather it in your hands. Next, gently massage the shampoo bar into the scalp and hair, as you would with a bottled shampoo.
A soap dish is necessary to prevent your shampoo from becoming waterlogged. A good soap dish will lift the soap enough to provide airflow and allow excess moisture to drip away completely. Doing so will preserve your bar and allow it to last anywhere from 4-6 months.
What it does for the planet:
Each shampoo bar lasts as long as 3 liquid 12 fl. oz. shampoo bottles, because most shampoo bottles are made up of 80% excess water! By using a shampoo bar you're also helping to combat the 552 million shampoo bottles that are estimated to end up in U.S. landfills each year!
Additionally, Parrotfish uses boxes that are 95% post-consumer and 5% post-industrial content as well as being fully recyclable and biodegradable.
For a reduced carbon footprint, our products are shipped with USPS, using existing postal routes. On average, this will have a smaller carbon footprint than driving to the store.
