How To Apply Argan Oil on Your Hair

Argan oil has become a beloved staple in many hair care routines due to its nourishing and hydrating properties. This guide explores how to effectively use argan oil daily, the best methods for application, alternative products, and common questions about its use. By understanding the nuances of argan oil application, you can tailor your hair care routine to achieve optimal results.

Can I Use Argan Oil on My Hair Every Day?

Using argan oil daily on your hair is possible, but if you have thin hair, it's best to start with a small amount and gradually add more as needed. Overuse can make your hair look limp and greasy. Opt for a lightweight argan oil to avoid these issues.

If your hair looks oily between washes after starting with argan oil, try applying it only to freshly washed hair or use smaller amounts.

How to Apply Argan Oil on Your Hair

  1. Preparation: Wash your hair with a gentle shampoo and conditioner, then towel-dry it until slightly damp.
  2. Application: Add a small amount of oil to your hands, rub them together to warm the oil for easier distribution and absorption.
  3. Distribution: Gently run the oil through your hair from mid-lengths to ends, focusing on frizzy and dry areas. Avoid applying directly to the scalp to prevent greasiness.
  4. Combing: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to evenly distribute the oil throughout your hair.
  5. Styling: Style your hair as usual. Argan oil helps protect from heat damage and provides a smoother finish.
  6. Finishing Touch: Use a few drops as a finishing touch after styling to add shine and control frizz.

For those seeking extra shine, a shine spray containing argan oil can create a glossy, mirror-like finish, add heat protection, and detangle.

Using Argan Oil as a Deep Conditioning Treatment

For additional hydration, use argan oil as a deep conditioning treatment. Apply a generous amount, comb through, and leave on for 30 minutes to an hour before shampooing it out. Remember, a little goes a long way with argan oil.

Alternative to Using Argan Oil Directly: Infused Hair Care Products

If you prefer shampoos over direct oil applications, consider incorporating argan oil-infused hair care products into your routine. Shampoos and conditioners enriched with argan oil provide deep hydration and nourishment, harnessing the oil's moisturising properties to keep your hair healthy and shiny. Argan oil shampoo bars gently cleanse and nourish without harsh chemicals, while conditioner bars ensure your hair remains smooth and manageable. Opt for these sustainable hair care solutions to enjoy beautiful, healthy hair while supporting eco-friendly practices.

Can I Use Argan Oil on My Hair Overnight?

Yes, applying argan oil overnight can provide intense hydration and nourishment. However, if you have fine, oily, or thin hair, an overnight treatment may make your hair greasy. In such cases, opt for a shorter leave-in time or use argan oil as a pre-shampoo treatment.

Guidelines for Different Hair Types

  • Straight Hair: Apply 2-3 times a week.
  • Wavy Hair: Apply 3-4 times a week.
  • Curly Hair: Apply 4-5 times a week.
  • Coily Hair: Apply daily or every other day.

These are general guidelines. Listen to your hair’s needs to discover the frequency that works best for you over time. Consistency is key to improving the overall health and appearance of your hair with argan oil.

Do I Put Argan Oil on Wet or Dry Hair?

Argan oil is most effective when applied to wet hair after washing. It helps with faster drying, easier combing, and provides nourishment from roots to ends, adding shine. However, it can also be used on dry hair for additional care as needed.

Do You Put Argan Oil on Roots or Ends?

Apply argan oil sparingly, concentrating on the ends of your hair rather than the roots. This helps avoid greasiness and ensures that the oil nourishes the areas most prone to dryness and damage.

Do You Need to Dilute Argan Oil for Hair?

Dilution of argan oil can depend on your preference and intended use. A typical ratio is 1 part argan oil to 3 parts carrier oil. For hair, use a small amount of the diluted mixture and massage it into the desired area.

What Happens if You Put Too Much Argan Oil in Your Hair?

Using too much argan oil can be counter-productive. Excess oil can clog hair follicles, leading to hair fall and dandruff. Apply sparingly to avoid these issues and maintain healthy hair.

Argan oil offers a versatile and effective solution for a variety of hair types and needs. By applying it correctly and understanding the best practices for your specific hair type, you can enhance your hair's health, shine, and manageability. Whether using it daily, as a deep conditioning treatment, or through argan oil-infused products, the key is to listen to your hair's needs and adjust your routine accordingly. With consistent use and mindful application, argan oil can be a transformative addition to your hair care regimen.

Best. Duo. EVER.

My family and I are obsessed with the smell, texture, and softness that it leaves our hair after washing. As a blonde, I had to wash my hair once/day or once/two days due to my hair appearing oily after using liquid products, which would then aggravate my scalp; now, I wash my hair once every 3-4 days because my hair maintains shine and softness. For blondies and gray/silver-headed beauties, do yourself a favor and try this pairing.

Best shampoo and conditioner ever

I came back for more because I
love how it makes my hair feel. It controls frizz and also makes it feel soft. I was afraid if I didn’t stock up a little I would run out .

Actually Works!

This is the only purple Shampoo I have tried that’s actually able to lighten my hair! I have thick hair in a darker blonde color, and normally after using purple shampoo it looks the same as before. With this one, my hair stylist noticed my hair was lighter, and I didn’t even bring it up! And yes, I follow instructions!

Good product

I purchased the purple shampoo and conditioner bars & am very pleased with the results. It has definitely toned down the yellowing of my gray hair and does not dry my hair out. I will be ordering again for sure.
